A very unique perspective on how Sherlock Holmes can affect people far outside his original oeuvre, and a touching look at breaking out of cycles of self-hatred.

Season One: Iris and the Crew Tear Through Space! by Cait Gordon

A rollicking space yarn set in a world where accommodation just *is* and people with mental and physical disability is normalized...and perfectly normal. It was a super fun story, with great characters and solid ideas. It ended quite abruptly.

JUNKER SEVEN

JUNKER SEVEN by Olive J. Kelley

Worldbuilding: Didn’t add anything
Plot: Straightforward
Characters: Some more thought out than others
Storytelling: Balanced
Immersion: Satisfying, fulfilling experience
Emotional Response: Engaging
Thought Provoking: Focus on the story solely
Cover: Adequately represents the story
Content Warnings: Deadnaming and impact, emotional response to having been "othered', violent deaths in past and present, violent intent by a government and police

This book was pretty trope-y, which was not the problem. The problem is that it is not "the future we need" it's the present we have turned up to 11 and the solution is much too much of a last minute handwave to be emotionally effective.

Characters: Roles are clear
Storytelling: Descriptive
Immersion: Didn’t want to put the book down

Thought Provoking: New ideas came up

Content Warnings: Manipulative relationships: emotional manipulation from parents, mentor in the workplace

Excellent book. Kept me riveted from beginning to end. The characters were well developed, each had unique characteristics and voice. The conflict was resolved in ways that were thoughtful, but without trauma. Great rep for disability, gender and sexual minorities.
